Ephemera 3
- Great waves of congratulations to Clay Liford for wrapping the first week of his new feature film, Earthling, and for also getting his short film My Mom Smokes Weed into [redacted until the lineup is announced]! I'm getting the impression that this film is developing a groundswell of well-deserved support in certain circles. It's taking a while, but it'll get out there. And as for Earthling, I can't wait to see more footage - the tiny bit I've glimpsed looks beautiful. It's strange and exciting to know that close friends are off making a movie right now, and going through that entire rush of experience as I sit here chained to my computer halfway across the country. The sense of disconnect is giving way to anticipation.
- Speaking of anticipation, the intense head-scratching that accompanied the discovery of the After Last Season trailer has been carried over into deep analysis. I hope the director, whoever he is, is googling himself.
- Jody Hill's Observe And Report opens today. I saw it at SXSW last month and had a blast with it, but the fact that I passed up a secret screening of a print of Todd Haynes' Superstar has been weighing on my conscience as of late. Oh well.

I've seen it before, but a big screen experience always trumps a little Quicktime window.
