A Certain Point

I watched the supposedly final version of the film last night with fresh and rested eyes and ears and noticed some things I didn't like: music that's mixed too low in one scene, the crackle of a fire mixed too high, an annoying bird mixed in too prevalently, a transition that's mixed too abruptly.

But seeing as how I can't afford to make another HD master, I think maybe I'm just going to try to let it all go.

You know the old adage: Films (or art, or poetry) are never finished, only abandoned.

I just looked it up, and it's evidently been attributed to Leonardo da Vinci (re: art), Paul Valéry (poetry) and George Lucas.

at some point, you just have to let it go

I was thinking similar things a few days ago, and my producer told me quite brilliantly, that it (my film) is your retarded baby, you may know what is wrong with it, but everybody will ignore those things. You aren't ashamed of it, you're proud of it, and you'll show it to everyone you know.

Heaven help me, I just spent three hours making changes. Improvements. I'll abandon it all on Sunday!

I still tweak shorts as long as 6 months after they initially run. Sometimes longer.
