Fall Movie Season
According to Entertainment Weekly, by way of David Hudson's massive Fall Movie Preview, the release date for There Will Be Blood, has been moved to December 26. A perfect birthday present!
While sitting in the Phoenix airport this morning, I got an acceptance letter and a rejection letter from the same festival within the space of a few minutes. Some Analog Lines will be continuing its intermitent run at the Sidewalk Moving Pictures Festival in September; The Outlaw Son, however, will not. But I ain't complaining; I've always wanted to go to Sidewalk, and I'm glad I finally have the opportunity!
And now I'm back in Texas again, until at least mid-September, beginning what scholars will someday refer to as 'his homeless period.'

David,
If there's any chance you'll be in Austin next Sunday, let me know. There's a little event I'd like to invite you to.
Congrats on Sidewalk! I've heard that's a fun fest from many sources. Kent Osborne is supposedly a god there, so invoke his name often.

Have you found that one film has been selected for festivals more than others? If so, which one, and how does that make you feel?
(Damn it, I'm asking questions like a journalist...)

That's what you get for majoring in it! But anway, Analog Lines has far exceeded The Outlaw Son as far as festivals go. I'm totally fine with that, partially because Analog is very simply an easier film to program. It's short, at least somewhat thought-provoking and its visually compelling (somewhat). The Outlaw Son is, I think, a better film, but it's a bit more contentious, and it doesnt' sit well with most other films (the program at the Sarasota Film Festival that it was included in was ideal, because most of the films were equally odd and contemplative, and by the time mine rolled around audiences were either asleep or very much prepared for yet another meditative expedition).
I'm looking forward to reading your thoughts on it, Matt.

Since you're back in Texas again, I hope you will listen to our song, "I'm Back in Texas Again."
