Wholpin Goes Analog
Now that it's SXSWClick page has been taken down, Some Analog Lines has found a new home over at the Wholphin website. For those out of the know, Wholphin is the short film offshoot of Dave Eggers' literary magazine McSweeney's. It's a great magazine, and their online catalog is awesome too (scroll down the list and you might see some familiar names).
I think there might be some interesting ancillary material going up sometime soon, too, along with a higher resolution version of the film. Until then, though, Some Analog Lines and its accompanying liner notes (in which I used the phrase at this point, or some variation thereof, way too many times) can be viewed here.

Oh I have one of their DVDs sitting on my shelf waiting to be watched. Does this mean your film will be on an upcoming edition?

I think it's just gonna be on the website for the time being. Their new issue is just about out, so the timing's off.

David: What a delight to finally see my first Lowery film. Such a beautiful piece! "Tactility in art" indeed! You bring such a poetic sensibility to your concerns. What Some Analog Lines reminded me of were conversations I've had with my friend Phil Cousineau who--when he was researching cultures for his various volumes on the nature of the soul--informed me that in some indigenous cultures the soul is thought to travel from within the person through the whorling conduits of the fingertips into whatever they are working on. This is what distinguishes fine craftsmanship and inspired art. Thank you for this lovely film.
